Senior Chemical Engineer - Specialty Chemicals

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the production of high-performance specialty chemicals, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their established team in Liverpool . This role demands a deep understanding of chemical processes, process optimization, and new product scale-up. You will be responsible for overseeing complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation within the manufacturing division. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of new chemical processes and modifications to existing ones, focusing on efficiency and safety.
• Oversee the scale-up of specialty chemicals from laboratory to full production, ensuring process robustness.
• Conduct detailed process analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for yield improvement and cost reduction.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of chemical engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with R&D, quality control, and production departments to ensure seamless product lifecycle management.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the specialty chemicals industry.
• Proven expertise in process design, optimization, and scale-up of complex chemical reactions.
• Strong knowledge of process safety, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
