About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their innovative and dynamic team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing chemical processes and plant operations, contributing significantly to the company's groundbreaking projects. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong analytical mindset, capable of driving complex engineering challenges to successful completion in a remote collaborative environment. You will be a key player in ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability across all chemical engineering initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, simulation, and scale-up of new chemical processes and equipment.
- Optimize existing chemical manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance safety.
- Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement mitigation strategies to ensure operational safety.
- Manage projects from conception to completion, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders remotely.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and batch records, adhering to stringent quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process design, optimization, and scale-up within the chemical industry.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated experience with HAZOP studies and other process safety methodologies.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills, essential for remote collaboration.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and environmental standards in the chemical sector.
