Senior Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join their innovative team in Leicester . This role is pivotal in driving forward process development and optimization within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing chemical processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and a proven track record of successful project execution, contributing significantly to the company's operational excellence and strategic growth objectives within the UK market.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and scale-up of new chemical processes and optimize existing ones for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement robust safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with UK regulations .
• Manage and oversee pilot plant trials and full-scale production runs, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and maintenance, to ensure seamless process integration and performance.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and operational manuals.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to support their professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in chemical process design, development, and troubleshooting, preferably within the chemical manufacturing sector.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and data analysis tools.
• In-depth knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant safety legislation.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to lead complex projects.
