About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a forward-thinking Senior Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their innovative research and development team in Manchester . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of novel chemical processes from laboratory scale through to pilot and commercial implementation. You will be at the forefront of translating scientific discoveries into robust, scalable manufacturing processes, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and economically viable. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimization of new chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments and pilot plant trials to validate process concepts and gather critical data.
- Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and mass and energy balances for new and existing processes.
- Perform scale-up studies , identifying and mitigating potential challenges in transitioning from lab to plant scale.
- Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, analytical scientists, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.
- Author comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Significant experience (8+ years) in chemical process development, scale-up, and optimization.
- Proficiency with process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and statistical design of experiments (DoE).
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and pilot plant operations.
- Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and separation principles.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and project management skills.
