About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their dynamic team in Aberdeen, Scotland . This role is pivotal in driving innovation and efficiency in our client's core chemical processing operations. You will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of chemical plants and processes, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and economic viability. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to project lifecycles from conception to completion, and play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within a leading industry player.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new chemical processes and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Conduct detailed process simulations and analyses to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Oversee the implementation and commissioning of new process units and modifications to existing facilities.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the process lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in chemical process design and operations.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles.
- Experience with project management methodologies and HAZOP studies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions.
