Senior Chemical Process Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Aberdeen, Scotland . This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and optimization of complex chemical processes across various projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our operations, contributing directly to innovative solutions within the energy sector. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices in process engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of new chemical processes and plant modifications.
• Conduct process simulations, hazard and operability (HAZOP ) studies, and risk assessments to ensure safety and compliance.
• Optimize existing processes for improved yield, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.
• Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, mechanical engineers, and operations staff.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering, preferably within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and process control systems .
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and reaction kinetics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
