Senior Cheminformatician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Cheminformatician to enhance their drug discovery efforts in Nottingham . This hybrid role offers a flexible working arrangement, allowing for both remote contribution and in-office collaboration with their dedicated research team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing computational strategies to analyze chemical data, support molecular design, and drive efficiency in the early stages of drug development. This position is perfect for an individual passionate about applying computational tools to chemical information and contributing to the discovery of novel therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cheminformatics databases, tools, and workflows for chemical data management and analysis.
• Apply computational methods, including virtual screening, similarity searching, and diversity analysis, to support lead identification and optimization.
• Design and execute QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) and other predictive modeling studies.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to translate research goals into computational tasks and interpret results.
• Develop and implement algorithms for molecular representation, property prediction, and chemical space exploration.
• Contribute to the integration of chemical data with biological and ADMET data for comprehensive project insights.

Requirements

• MSc or Ph.D. in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in cheminformatics, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with experience in relevant libraries (e.g., RDKit, Open Babel).
• Strong understanding of chemical structures, properties, and databases (e.g., SMILES, InChI, PubChem).
• Experience with molecular modeling, virtual screening techniques, and data mining methods.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for a hybrid team.
