Senior Chemist - Analytical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Chemist to lead their Analytical Development team in Bristol . This critical role involves developing, validating, and implementing robust analytical methods for the characterization and quality control of new chemical entities and pharmaceutical products. You will play a key part in ensuring product quality and compliance, working closely with research and manufacturing departments. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned analytical chemist to take on greater responsibility, mentor junior staff, and contribute significantly to the success of pharmaceutical development in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and validation of analytical methods using techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS , and spectroscopy for small molecules and drug products.
• Oversee the execution of routine and non-routine analytical testing to support R&D and manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and methods, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Write comprehensive method validation reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and analytical specifications.
• Mentor and guide junior chemists, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in analytical method development and validation within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with chromatography (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopic techniques.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ICH guidelines) for analytical testing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills , attention to detail, and leadership capabilities.
