Senior Choreographer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and inspiring Senior Choreographer to create and direct movement for their upcoming season of theatrical productions in Southampton . You will be responsible for developing original movement concepts, coaching performers, and ensuring the highest quality of dance and physical storytelling within each show. This role requires a creative leader with extensive experience in various dance styles and a proven ability to translate narrative and emotion into compelling physical performances, contributing to the artistic vision of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and stage original choreography for theatrical productions.
• Work closely with directors and creative teams to integrate movement seamlessly into the narrative.
• Rehearse and coach actors and dancers, ensuring high standards of performance and execution.
• Adapt choreography for different casts and performance spaces as needed.
• Research and develop movement vocabularies relevant to specific production styles and periods.
• Maintain a safe and productive rehearsal environment, ensuring the well-being of performers.

Requirements

• A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of professional choreography credits.
• Extensive experience in teaching and coaching movement and dance across multiple genres.
• Deep understanding of dance history, technique, and theatrical staging.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, designers, and production teams in Southampton .
