Senior Civil Engineer - Drainage and Flood Alleviation

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in drainage and flood alleviation to join their team in Bristol . This role is central to developing and implementing effective solutions for managing water runoff and mitigating flood risks in urban and rural environments. You will lead complex design projects, manage specialist teams, and collaborate with various authorities to ensure public safety and environmental protection. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage infrastructure.
• Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams on major drainage and flood defense projects.
• Prepare detailed design reports, hydraulic models, and tender documents.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and statutory undertakers to achieve project objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in the team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water management.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in drainage design and flood risk management.
• Expertise in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, SWMM) and GIS.
• Strong knowledge of UK flood risk management policies and legislation.
• Proven project management and client liaison skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.
