Senior Civil Engineer - Transportation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in transportation infrastructure to join their team in Reading . This critical role involves leading the design and delivery of complex transport projects, including highways, road networks, and public transport schemes. You will be responsible for technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring projects meet stringent quality, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of transportation planning and engineering principles, coupled with strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including road alignment, junction design, and traffic management solutions.
• Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, reports, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Conduct traffic modelling, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments related to transport schemes.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK highway standards, DMRB, and planning regulations.
• Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets, ensuring successful and efficient project delivery.
• Collaborate with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives and gain necessary approvals.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong focus on transportation engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in transportation design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and traffic analysis tools (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA).
• In-depth knowledge of highway design standards, traffic engineering principles, and environmental considerations.
• Proven project management and leadership skills, with excellent communication abilities.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or progress towards it is highly desirable.
