Senior Civil Engineer - Utilities & Drainage

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Utilities & Drainage to join their forward-thinking team, operating on a fully remote basis. This critical role involves leading the design, planning, and oversight of complex water management and utility infrastructure projects across the UK. You will be instrumental in developing sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS), managing foul and surface water networks, and coordinating with utility providers. This is a prime opportunity for an expert engineer who excels in autonomous work and seeks to contribute to vital infrastructure development from a flexible, home-based setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), surface water management plans, and foul water networks for diverse development projects.
• Manage utility coordination, including liaison with water companies, sewerage undertakers, and other statutory bodies to ensure seamless integration of services.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations, flood risk assessments, and environmental reports in accordance with current regulations and best practices.
• Develop comprehensive design drawings, specifications, and contract documents for drainage and utility infrastructure.
• Oversee the technical quality and project delivery of drainage and utility elements, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians working remotely.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or CIWEM, or demonstrable equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-graduate experience focused on civil engineering with a strong emphasis on drainage and utilities.
• Proven expertise in designing and managing SuDS, including infiltration techniques, attenuation systems, and water quality management.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing water management and utilities in the UK.
• Proficiency in drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage) and GIS tools.
• Excellent communication and project management skills, capable of effective remote collaboration.
