Senior Civil Engineer - Utilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in Utilities to join their team in Nottingham . This role will involve leading the design and project management of utility infrastructure projects, including water, gas, and electricity networks, often in coordination with new developments. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant delivery of these vital services. This is a senior position offering significant responsibility and the opportunity to shape key infrastructure within the region, whilst benefiting from a flexible working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and technical delivery of utility infrastructure projects (water, sewer, gas, electricity).
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for utility diversions and new installations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and health & safety regulations.
• Liaise with utility companies, developers, local authorities, and contractors.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and contract administration documents.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in the design and management of utility infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of utility regulations, standards, and best practices in the UK.
• Proficiency in relevant design and project management software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Experience with hybrid working models and managing distributed teams.
