Senior Civil Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Water Resources Management to join their leading environmental consultancy in Glasgow . You will be responsible for leading the design, planning, and implementation of sustainable water management solutions, including flood risk assessments, drainage systems, and river restoration projects. This role is crucial for developing strategies that address complex environmental challenges and promote resilient water infrastructure. You will work with a dedicated team of environmental specialists, contributing to significant projects across Scotland and beyond, and have a direct impact on environmental protection and sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of flood defense strategies and hydraulic modeling for rivers and coastal areas.
• Design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and urban water management solutions.
• Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments and environmental impact studies.
• Manage multi-disciplinary project teams and oversee project delivery from inception to completion.
• Liaise effectively with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and clients to ensure project success.
• Provide expert technical advice on water resource planning and management.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; Chartered Engineer status (CEng) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, flood risk management, or drainage design.
• Strong proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM) and GIS.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale water infrastructure projects.
• Excellent understanding of UK water legislation and environmental regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.
