Senior Computational Biologist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their fully remote R&D team. This is a critical role focused on leveraging advanced computational methods to drive drug discovery initiatives. You will be responsible for analyzing large-scale biological datasets, building predictive models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify novel therapeutic targets and optimize drug candidates. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of biological systems and a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable scientific insights, working in a flexible, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and apply computational and statistical methods to analyze high-throughput biological data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.).
• Design and implement machine learning models for target identification, drug efficacy prediction, and patient stratification.
• Collaborate closely with biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to integrate computational findings into discovery programs.
• Visualize and interpret complex datasets, presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to the development of internal tools and pipelines to enhance computational capabilities.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in computational biology, machine learning, and bioinformatics relevant to drug discovery.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in applying computational approaches to biological problems, with a focus on drug discovery.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, and experience with relevant scientific libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Proficiency in analyzing large biological datasets and experience with databases and data management.
• Excellent understanding of biological pathways, disease mechanisms, and drug discovery processes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively in remote teams.
