Senior Computational Biologist (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Computational Biologist to join their pioneering team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will play a crucial role in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, developing predictive models, and extracting actionable insights to drive our client's research and development initiatives. You will collaborate closely with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians, contributing to the design of experiments and the interpretation of results in the cutting edge of genomics and systems biology .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain computational pipelines for the analysis of complex biological data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Develop and apply statistical and machine learning models to identify patterns, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
• Collaborate with experimental teams to interpret results and provide data-driven recommendations for experimental design.
• Contribute to the development of novel algorithms and software tools for biological data analysis.
• Document methodologies, findings, and code comprehensively.
• Present research findings to internal teams and at scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with relevant scientific libraries.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and biological databases.
• Experience with high-performance computing environments and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
