Senior Computational Scientist - Cheminformatics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Computational Scientist with expertise in Cheminformatics to join their cutting-edge research and development team in Nottingham . This role is pivotal in supporting drug discovery efforts by developing and applying computational methods to chemical data. You will work with large chemical libraries, analyze structure-activity relationships, and contribute to the design of novel molecular entities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cheminformatics tools and workflows for the analysis of chemical data.
• Design and execute virtual screening campaigns to identify promising drug candidates.
• Analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) and structure-property relationships (SPR) to guide compound optimization.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, biologists, and other computational scientists to advance drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to the design of novel molecules with desired properties using computational approaches.
• Maintain and curate chemical databases and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

• PhD in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in cheminformatics and computational drug discovery.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with cheminformatics toolkits (e.g., RDKit, Open Babel).
• Experience with molecular modeling, virtual screening, and QSAR/QSPR methodologies.
• Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles and chemical data representation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team within our Nottingham facility.
