Senior Computational Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Computational Scientist to join their vibrant drug discovery team in Wolverhampton . This hybrid role is instrumental in applying advanced computational techniques to accelerate the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. You will engage in molecular modeling, virtual screening, and data analysis to guide medicinal chemistry efforts and explore novel biological targets. The position requires a strong foundation in computational chemistry, a passion for drug discovery, and excellent collaborative skills. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to innovative projects and play a key role in shaping the future of their research pipeline, with a blend of on-site and remote working flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform molecular modeling, docking, and virtual screening studies to identify and prioritize potential drug candidates.
• Develop and apply structure-based and ligand-based drug design strategies.
• Analyze and interpret complex datasets from in vitro and in vivo studies to guide compound optimization.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to integrate computational insights into project teams.
• Contribute to the development and application of novel computational methodologies and software tools.
• Present research findings clearly and effectively to project teams and senior management.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent in Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Pharmacology, or a related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in computational drug discovery, with a strong track record in molecular modeling and virtual screening.
• Proficiency with molecular modeling software packages (e.g., Schrodinger, MOE, Discovery Studio).
• Strong understanding of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry principles, and drug development processes.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, suitable for a hybrid work model in Wolverhampton .
