Job Description
The Opportunity
Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

We are now looking to build the Control & Instrumentation capability within PPP across all our Projects
The Role
We are now expecting several projects to have exciting opportunities to recruit a Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join the team in either Birchwood or Cumbria.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ROLES ARE EXPECTED TO START LATER THIS YEAR/ EARLY PART OF 2027.
As a Senior C&I Engineer your responsibilities will include:
* Lead the development and delivery of Control & Instrumentation engineering solutions across all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to commissioning and handover.
* Produce, review and approve C&I engineering deliverables in accordance with project requirements, applicable standards and client engineering procedures.
* Manage the C&I design configuration baseline, ensuring design changes are appropriately assessed, controlled and implemented.
* Provide technical oversight of control systems, instrumentation systems, functional safety requirements and associated plant interfaces.
* Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure design compliance, resolve technical queries and support testing and acceptance activities.
* Coordinate C&I engineering activities with other disciplines through BIM and multidisciplinary design reviews to ensure effective system integration.
* Ensure design solutions remain aligned with safety case requirements, functional requirements and project objectives, supporting verification and validation activities.
* Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and graduates within the discipline.
* Support commissioning, testing and handover activities, providing technical leadership to resolve complex engineering issues.
As a Senior C&I Engineer you will have:
* BEng/MEng degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by an HNC/HND qualification.
* Professionally registered, or working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
* Significant experience in a C&I engineering role within Nuclear or another highly regulated industry.
* Demonstrable experience leading the production and review of C&I engineering deliverables for complex engineering projects.
* Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation systems, functional safety principles and relevant industry standards.
* Experience managing technical interfaces and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities.
* Experience working with supply chain partners and providing technical oversight of supplier design activities.
* Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
