Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking an accomplished Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations hub in Milton Keynes . This role is fundamental to the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations across various exploration and production assets. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing well construction activities, ensuring safety and efficiency, and controlling costs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and operational teams to achieve drilling objectives in challenging environments, contributing to the company's exploration success and resource development goals. This is a fantastic chance to work on diverse projects within the oil and gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs, including well design, casing points, and cementing strategies.
• Manage and supervise drilling operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Plan and execute directional drilling and complex wellbore construction activities.
• Conduct pre-spud meetings and ensure all personnel are briefed on the drilling plan and associated risks.
• Monitor drilling performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Prepare end-of-well reports, analyze performance data, and identify lessons learned for future operations.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering , including offshore and onshore operations.
• Strong understanding of drilling equipment, downhole tools, and drilling fluids technology.
• Proven experience with well planning software and real-time drilling data analysis.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.
• Valid IWCF certification (Level 3 or 4) is required.
