Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a highly experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to oversee drilling operations and planning from their Milton Keynes office. This role is pivotal in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling campaigns. You will be responsible for designing well plans, selecting equipment, managing drilling risks, and supervising drilling crews. The successful candidate will leverage extensive technical expertise and a strong understanding of drilling technologies to achieve project objectives. This position offers the chance to contribute to significant projects in a well-established energy firm located in the heart of Buckinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute drilling plans and programs for onshore and offshore wells.
• Select appropriate drilling equipment, fluids, and technologies to optimize well construction.
• Manage drilling risks, including well control, stuck pipe, and formation integrity.
• Supervise drilling operations, providing technical support and leadership to field teams.
• Conduct post-well analysis and implement lessons learned to improve future operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and drilling fluids.
• Experience with directional drilling and well planning software.
• Strong understanding of wellbore stability, formation evaluation, and risk management.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
