Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their offshore operations team, based near Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This critical role involves the planning, execution, and supervision of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, selecting appropriate equipment, managing risks, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the drilling process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in offshore drilling technologies and a commitment to upholding the highest safety standards in a demanding operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed drilling plans and programs for offshore wells.
• Select and specify drilling equipment, tools, and materials required for operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential drilling hazards.
• Supervise drilling operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Analyze drilling performance data and implement measures to optimize drilling efficiency and reduce costs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to drilling crews and site personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in drilling engineering , with substantial offshore experience.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, well control, and directional drilling techniques.
• Proficiency with drilling simulation and planning software.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid IWCF (International Well Control Forum) certification is highly desirable.
