Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their expanding operations based in Coventry . This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations across various projects. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing rig operations, and mitigating potential risks associated with well construction. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects within the Oil & Gas sector, collaborating with a dedicated team focused on operational excellence and innovation. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute comprehensive drilling programs , ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage rig selection, contract negotiation, and the logistical coordination of drilling operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for drilling hazards.
• Supervise rig site activities, providing technical guidance to drilling crews and third-party service providers.
• Analyze drilling data, monitor performance, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Prepare detailed reports on drilling performance, non-productive time (NPT), and lessons learned for Coventry operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering , including offshore and onshore operations.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementation, well control, and directional drilling techniques.
• Proficiency in drilling simulation software and data analysis.
• Proven ability to manage complex drilling projects and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
