Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their remote-first engineering team, contributing to complex projects across various international basins. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing risks, and optimizing drilling performance through innovative technical solutions. Working from home, you will collaborate closely with operations, subsurface, and HSE teams to achieve operational excellence in a challenging and dynamic global oil and gas landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling programs and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Perform technical evaluations and select appropriate drilling equipment and services.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for drilling hazards.
• Monitor and analyze drilling performance data, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and cost reduction.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting during critical drilling phases, liaising with remote operations centers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of best practices in drilling engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering, including offshore and onshore environments.
• Strong understanding of well control principles, casing and cementing design, and directional drilling.
• Proficiency with drilling simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Demonstrated experience in managing drilling project budgets and timelines effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to safety and operational challenges.
