About the Role

Our client, a prominent entity in the Oil & Gas exploration and production sector, is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is critical for overseeing the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all drilling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with stringent industry regulations and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage all aspects of drilling operations, including well design, casing programs, and cementing.
• Supervise drilling crews and service providers on-site, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational plans.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for potential drilling hazards.
• Optimize drilling performance, focusing on reducing non-productive time (NPT) and drilling costs.
• Manage the procurement of drilling equipment and services, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on drilling challenges and solutions to project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience as a Drilling Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proven experience with various drilling techniques, including conventional and unconventional methods.
• Strong understanding of drilling fluid mechanics, wellbore stability, and formation pressures.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices for offshore and onshore drilling.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
