Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to provide critical support for their drilling operations, based in Bristol, South West England . This role demands expertise in the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations. You will analyze drilling fluid performance, troubleshoot issues on rig sites, and recommend solutions to mitigate drilling risks such as formation damage, lost circulation, and wellbore instability. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support for drilling fluid operations, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Monitor drilling fluid properties and performance, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal conditions.
• Conduct laboratory testing of drilling fluid samples and evaluate the performance of additives.
• Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid materials and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluids.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Significant experience (5+ years) as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Mud Engineer.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, additives, and their properties.
• Experience with drilling fluid testing equipment and procedures.
• Strong understanding of wellbore hydraulics and the interaction between drilling fluids and formations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a hybrid setting.
