Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their technical services team in Bristol . This role is essential for managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems across various drilling projects, ensuring wellbore stability, efficient drilling rates, and environmental compliance. You will be responsible for fluid design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and recommending solutions to drilling challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fluid chemistry, rheology, and drilling fluid technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and recommend appropriate drilling fluid systems based on well objectives, geological conditions, and environmental considerations.
• Supervise and train drilling fluids technicians and mud loggers on site.
• Monitor drilling fluid properties and performance during operations, making necessary adjustments.
• Troubleshoot drilling fluid-related problems such as lost circulation, stuck pipe, and formation damage.
• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of fluid samples to ensure quality and performance.
• Prepare technical reports on fluid performance, costs, and recommendations for future operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry , rheology, and additives.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems, including water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based muds.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluids.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in Bristol .
