About the Role
Our client is actively searching for a skilled Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operational team in Portsmouth . This hybrid role is critical for ensuring the successful and efficient drilling of wells by managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems. You will be responsible for the design, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of drilling muds and fluids, ensuring they meet the complex demands of various geological formations. This position offers a dynamic blend of on-site supervision and remote analysis, contributing to safe and cost-effective drilling operations within the oil and gas industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Design drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and geological objectives.
- Supervise drilling fluid operations on location, ensuring proper mixing, performance, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor drilling fluid properties and performance, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal conditions.
- Troubleshoot drilling fluid-related problems, such as lost circulation, wellbore instability, and formation damage.
- Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
- Prepare technical reports on drilling fluid performance and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer, with hands-on field experience.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and additives.
- Familiarity with mud logging data and its interpretation in relation to fluid performance.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, adapting to both field and office/remote requirements.
