Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in oilfield services, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their technical team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is critical for providing expert advice and services related to drilling fluid systems for onshore and offshore exploration and production activities in the oil and gas industry . You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring drilling fluid programs to ensure wellbore stability, optimize drilling performance, and minimize operational risks and costs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize drilling fluid programs based on geological conditions, well trajectory, and operational objectives for various drilling projects.
• Supervise and manage onsite drilling fluid operations, ensuring accurate mixing, maintenance, and quality control of drilling fluids.
• Conduct regular laboratory testing and analysis of drilling fluid samples to monitor properties and performance against specifications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for drilling fluid-related issues encountered during drilling operations.
• Prepare detailed drilling fluid reports, including daily fluid summaries, performance analysis, and cost tracking.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements in drilling fluid systems and recommend their adoption where appropriate for the oil and gas sector .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer, with hands-on field experience.
• Strong understanding of drilling fluid properties, additives, and their impact on drilling performance and wellbore stability.
• Proficiency in fluid testing equipment and interpretation of results.
• Knowledge of API standards and best practices for drilling fluid systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
