Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their team in Oxford . This critical role focuses on the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe and efficient well construction operations in the energy sector . You will provide expert technical guidance, troubleshoot complex fluid-related challenges, and develop innovative solutions to enhance drilling performance and minimize costs. Working closely with drilling engineers and rig crews, you will ensure that fluid properties meet the demanding requirements of various drilling environments, contributing directly to project success and operational integrity. This is a key technical position within our drilling operations support function.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and recommend drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Oversee the implementation and management of drilling fluid systems on rig sites.
• Monitor drilling fluid performance, analyze properties, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
• Conduct laboratory testing and research to evaluate new drilling fluid additives and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for drilling fluid disposal.
• Provide technical support and training to junior fluid engineers and rig personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling fluids engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems (e.g., water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and testing procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
