Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in renewable energy projects to join their established team in Liverpool . This role is crucial for the design and development of innovative electrical systems for a variety of renewable energy installations, including solar farms and battery storage facilities. You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring layouts.
• Perform electrical load calculations, power distribution design, and equipment specification.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC standards).
• Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases.
• Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and design review documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design , with a significant portion focused on renewable energy projects.
• Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar.
• Strong understanding of power systems, protection schemes, and control systems for renewable energy applications.
• Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar PV designs is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to work effectively in a non-remote setting in Liverpool .
