Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their established engineering consultancy based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire . This role involves contributing to a diverse range of building services projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial developments. You will be responsible for producing high-quality electrical designs, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant building regulations and standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer to take a leading role in project delivery, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to innovative design solutions for key developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake electrical design for building services, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and security systems.
• Produce detailed electrical drawings , schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD and relevant design software.
• Perform site surveys and inspections to gather information and verify installations.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with current building regulations, British Standards, and energy efficiency requirements.
• Manage project deliverables and timelines for assigned electrical design packages.

Requirements

• A HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• A minimum of 6 years' experience in electrical design engineering , preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux, or similar electrical design software.
• Solid understanding of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant building codes.
• Experience in sustainable design and energy-efficient building services.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
