About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their established team in Derby . This role is critical for leading the design and development of complex electrical systems across a diverse range of projects, ensuring technical excellence and project success. You will be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, making key technical decisions, and liaising with clients to understand and translate their requirements into robust, reliable electrical solutions. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute significantly to challenging projects within a supportive and innovative engineering firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design process from concept through to detailed design and final implementation.
- Develop intricate electrical schematics, control logic, and system architectures.
- Perform detailed power system analysis , including load flow, fault studies, and arc flash assessments.
- Specify electrical equipment and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct design reviews, identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical development and project contributions.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in electrical design and engineering.
- Expertise in using ETAP , PSS/E, or similar power system analysis software.
- In-depth knowledge of low and high voltage electrical systems, protection schemes, and grounding.
- Experience with project management principles and client-facing responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
