Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in energy storage systems to join their team in Portsmouth . Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer electrical systems for large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) facilities.
- Develop technical specifications, single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring details for BESS projects.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of electrical components, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and batteries.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., IEC, BS), and grid connection requirements .
- Perform electrical system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination analysis.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and support project managers.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on energy storage systems or power electronics.
- Proven experience with AC/DC systems, power conversion technologies, and grid-tied BESS applications.
- Strong understanding of protection schemes, grounding, and electrical safety standards.
- Familiarity with power system analysis software and CAD tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage technical teams effectively.
