Senior Electrical Engineer - Grid Integration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in grid integration to join their team in Cardiff . This role is integral to connecting renewable energy sources and energy storage systems to the national grid, ensuring stability and efficiency. You will be responsible for the electrical design, analysis, and commissioning of grid connection projects. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design for grid connection projects, including substations and associated infrastructure for renewable energy sources.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, fault level, and transient stability analysis using industry-standard software.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate with grid operators for seamless integration of new generation assets.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical engineering standards and grid codes.
• Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power systems and grid connection.
• Demonstrable experience with grid code compliance and substation design.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PSCAD.
• Knowledge of protection relays, switchgear, transformers, and other high-voltage equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
