Senior Electrical Engineer - Grid Integration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in Grid Integration to join their expanding team, operating primarily remotely but with occasional site visits to Sunderland and surrounding areas. This role is integral to the successful connection and operation of renewable energy projects within the national grid infrastructure. You will be responsible for the technical design, analysis, and project management related to grid connection studies, ensuring compliance with grid codes and technical standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed grid interconnection studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis.
• Develop technical specifications and design documentation for grid connection equipment and systems.
• Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to ensure project compliance with grid codes.
• Manage electrical engineering aspects of projects from conception through to commissioning and handover.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical engineering matters to project teams and stakeholders.
• Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, and reports prepared by internal teams or external consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a specialization in power systems and grid integration .
• Strong understanding of power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PowerFactory).
• Knowledge of relevant national and international grid codes and standards.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar, wind) and their connection to the grid.
• Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
