About the Role
Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Senior Electrical Engineer to drive innovation in smart grid technologies , working entirely remotely from Bristol . This senior role will focus on the design, development, and deployment of intelligent grid solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in the energy sector. You will play a key role in shaping the future of energy infrastructure, working with a global team on cutting-edge projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of smart grid solutions, including SCADA systems, distribution automation, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
- Develop strategies for the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and renewable energy sources into the existing grid infrastructure.
- Perform complex power system analysis related to grid stability, power quality, and dynamic performance under various operational scenarios.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and software solutions to improve grid monitoring, control, and management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, project managers, and field operations, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of technical standards and best practices for smart grid deployment.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide expert technical guidance on smart grid projects.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems or Smart Grids.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on power systems and smart grid technologies.
- Deep understanding of SCADA , EMS , DMS , and communication protocols used in smart grids.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing grid automation solutions and DER integration strategies.
- Expertise in power system simulation and analysis software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
