Senior Electrical Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer of complex machinery, is seeking a dedicated Senior Electrical Safety Engineer to join their team in Belfast . This critical role focuses on ensuring that all electrical systems and products meet stringent safety regulations and standards, both domestically and internationally. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive safety assessments, developing safety strategies, and providing expert guidance to engineering and design teams. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and safety analyses for electrical control systems and machinery, identifying potential hazards and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical safety standards, such as IEC 60204, ISO 13849, and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).
• Develop and implement electrical safety policies, procedures, and documentation for product design and manufacturing processes.
• Provide expert advice and training to engineering teams on electrical safety requirements and best practices.
• Liaise with certification bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure successful product approvals and compliance audits.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in electrical safety engineering, with a strong focus on machinery safety and functional safety.
• In-depth knowledge of international electrical safety standards and regulations, including functional safety (SIL/PL).
• Experience with safety integrity level (SIL) or performance level (PL) assessment methodologies.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex safety requirements clearly.
