Senior Environment Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Senior Environment Artist to join their entirely remote team. You will be responsible for building immersive and visually compelling game worlds, from initial block-out to final polish. This role demands a strong understanding of architectural design, natural landscapes, and prop creation, with a keen eye for composition, lighting, and detail. You will work closely with level designers and art directors to bring these environments to life, contributing to a studio culture that thrives on remote collaboration and delivering high-quality visual experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including modular pieces, props, and set dressing.
• Build detailed and engaging levels within a game engine, paying close attention to composition and storytelling.
• Collaborate with level designers to ensure environments support gameplay mechanics and player navigation.
• Optimize environments for performance, ensuring assets are efficient and well-integrated.
• Develop and maintain consistent artistic style and quality across environments.
• Work with lighting artists to establish mood and atmosphere within the game world.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an Environment Artist in the games industry.
• A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality environmental art, including modeling, texturing, and world-building.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Suite).
• Experience working with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, including level editing and asset integration.
• Strong understanding of composition, color theory, and architectural/natural forms.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective work in a remote setting .
