Senior Financial Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance department based in Edinburgh . This key role involves taking ownership of critical financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and playing a vital part in financial planning and analysis. You will work within a dedicated finance team, collaborating closely with department heads and external auditors. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of statutory financial accounts according to UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
• Oversee the fixed asset register and associated accounting entries.
• Support internal and external audits, acting as a key point of contact for auditors.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.

Requirements

• Full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting, preferably within the UK .
• In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (UK GAAP and IFRS).
• Proficiency in financial accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
