Senior Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Controller to lead their accounting operations in Southampton . This critical role will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will manage a team of accounting professionals, drive process improvements, and provide strategic financial leadership to support the company's growth objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical accounting background, exceptional leadership qualities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity within a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/UK GAAP.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis to support strategic planning.
• Oversee tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, bankers, and other financial stakeholders.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Significant post-qualification experience (7+ years) in a senior accounting or financial control role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proven experience in managing and developing accounting teams.
• Excellent understanding of internal control frameworks and financial systems.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with strong Excel skills.
