Senior Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Financial Controller to lead their finance operations in Portsmouth . This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, driving financial strategy, and providing key insights to support business growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and a proven ability to manage complex financial operations within a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Develop and implement robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Significant post-qualification experience in financial accounting and control.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS.
• Proven experience in managing finance teams and implementing financial systems.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience in managing statutory audits and tax compliance.
