Senior Formulation Scientist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Formulation Scientist to join their cutting-edge pharmaceutical development team in Portsmouth . This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of novel drug delivery systems and formulations for innovative pharmaceutical products. You will leverage your expertise in pharmaceutics to advance drug candidates from early-stage research through to pre-formulation and scale-up activities. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of new pharmaceutical products, including solid dosage forms, injectables, and topical preparations.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Design and execute experiments to optimize formulations for desired pharmacokinetic profiles and product performance.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing formulations and drug substances.
• Oversee technology transfer activities from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring smooth scale-up.
• Collaborate closely with analytical development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs teams to achieve project milestones.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in pharmaceutical formulation development , with a strong understanding of drug delivery principles.
• Hands-on experience with various formulation types and manufacturing processes relevant to drug development .
• Proficiency in analytical techniques commonly used in formulation characterization (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and lead projects.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for working within the R&D team in Portsmouth .
