Senior Formulation Scientist - Pharmaceuticals

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled Senior Formulation Scientist to contribute to their innovative pharmaceutical development pipeline in Glasgow . This role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing drug formulations to ensure optimal delivery, stability, and efficacy of novel therapeutic agents. You will lead formulation development projects, conduct pre-formulation studies, and work closely with analytical and manufacturing teams to transition formulations from R&D to production. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of novel drug formulations (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topical) for diverse therapeutic areas.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and excipient compatibility assessments.
• Design and execute experiments to optimize formulation composition and manufacturing processes.
• Characterize formulated products using various analytical techniques (e.g., particle size analysis, dissolution testing).
• Collaborate with analytical chemists, process engineers, and project managers to ensure project timelines are met.
• Prepare comprehensive formulation development reports, protocols, and regulatory submission documents.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
• Proven expertise in various dosage forms and formulation technologies.
• Strong understanding of physical chemistry, drug delivery principles, and solid-state chemistry.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with analytical characterization techniques.
