Senior Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Formulation Scientist to lead product development initiatives within their innovative R&D department in Nottingham . This role is essential for designing and developing novel drug delivery systems and finished pharmaceutical products. You will manage formulation projects from concept to completion, ensuring efficacy, stability, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in pharmaceutical formulation science, advanced dosage form development, and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, contributing significantly to patient well-being from our Nottingham research center.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative pharmaceutical formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, topical).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including material characterization, solubility assessment, and excipient compatibility.
• Optimize formulations for enhanced drug stability, bioavailability, and patient compliance.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing formulated products and assessing their performance.
• Oversee pilot-scale manufacturing and technology transfer activities for new formulations.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory guidelines related to pharmaceutical formulation.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a strong track record of successfully bringing products to market.
• Expertise in various dosage forms and drug delivery technologies.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques for characterizing drug products (e.g., dissolution testing, particle size analysis, DSC, TGA).
• Good understanding of GMP regulations and regulatory submission requirements.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for working within a team in Nottingham .
