Senior Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Formulation Scientist to lead their formulation development efforts in Edinburgh . This role is critical for the design, development, and optimization of innovative drug delivery systems for various therapeutic modalities. You will provide scientific leadership, mentor junior scientists, and ensure the successful translation of early-stage drug candidates into stable, efficacious, and patient-friendly formulations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation development of small molecules, biologics, or other therapeutic agents from preclinical to clinical stages.
• Design and execute studies to evaluate drug stability, solubility, bioavailability, and release profiles.
• Characterize formulated products using a range of analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, DSC, particle size analysis).
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for drug product formulation.
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and propose innovative solutions.
• Provide scientific expertise and guidance to project teams and mentor junior scientists.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proven expertise in developing various dosage forms (e.g., oral, injectable, topical).
• Strong understanding of drug delivery technologies and materials science.
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques for characterizing pharmaceutical products.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, project management abilities, and communication skills.
