About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Game Designer specializing in Systems to join their talented team, working remotely. This role is critical in defining and iterating on the core gameplay mechanics, progression systems, and economic loops that drive player engagement and long-term retention. You will leverage your deep understanding of player psychology and game design principles to craft intuitive, challenging, and rewarding experiences. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, artists, and producers, you will translate high-level concepts into detailed design specifications and playable prototypes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate designer to shape the foundational elements of exciting new game titles from conception to launch, contributing to a player-centric design philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, document, and iterate on complex game systems , including combat mechanics, economy, progression, and AI behaviors.
- Prototype and test new game mechanics to validate design concepts and ensure fun factor.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to implement and refine systems, ensuring technical feasibility and performance.
- Analyze player data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and balance adjustments.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to a positive and productive team culture.
- Champion the game's vision and ensure all designed systems align with the overall player experience goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional game design experience , with a significant focus on systems design in shipped titles.
- Proven ability to design, document, and implement complex, interconnected game mechanics .
- Experience with scripting languages or visual scripting tools for prototyping is a plus.
- Strong understanding of player psychology, motivation, and game balancing principles.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
