About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and creative Senior Game Designer specializing in systems design to join their thriving studio in Bristol . This pivotal role involves conceptualizing, developing, and iterating on the core gameplay mechanics, economies, and progression systems that define the player experience in our client's exciting new titles within the Arts & Entertainment industry. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including programmers, artists, and producers, to ensure that systems are well-balanced, engaging, and technically feasible. Key Responsibilities
- Design, document, and balance complex gameplay systems, including combat, progression, economy, and AI behavior.
- Prototype and iterate on mechanics, using data and player feedback to refine game systems.
- Collaborate with programmers to translate design specifications into functional game features.
- Work with artists and narrative designers to ensure systems are thematically coherent and enhance the overall player experience.
- Analyze player data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization of game systems.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the studio's overall game design best practices.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience as a Game Designer , with a strong focus on systems design, evidenced by a portfolio of shipped titles.
- Proven ability to design, document, and balance complex game mechanics and systems.
- Proficiency with game design documentation tools and methodologies.
- Experience working within a collaborative team environment, communicating effectively with programmers, artists, and producers.
