Senior Game Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Game Designer to join their world-class development team, working remotely from Reading . You will be instrumental in conceptualizing and iterating on core game mechanics, systems, and player experiences that define compelling gameplay. This role requires a deep understanding of player psychology, game balance, and emergent gameplay opportunities. You will collaborate closely with engineers, artists, and producers to bring exciting new game concepts to life. Key Responsibilities

• Design, document, and refine core game mechanics, systems, and progression loops for new and existing titles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the game design vision is realized effectively throughout development.
• Conduct playtesting sessions, analyze player feedback, and iterate on designs to improve engagement and fun.
• Develop and balance game economies, progression systems, and reward structures.
• Create detailed design documentation, including flowcharts, spreadsheets, and written specifications.
• Mentor junior game designers and contribute to a culture of design excellence within the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Game Designer , with at least two shipped titles in a significant design role.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in game mechanics design, systems design, and level design principles.
• Proficiency with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and scripting languages is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote development environment.
