About the Role
Our client, a renowned studio situated in the vibrant city of Plymouth , is seeking an accomplished Senior Gameplay Programmer to join their dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the core gameplay mechanics and systems that define the player experience. You will work closely with designers and artists to translate innovative ideas into functional, robust code, contributing to games that push the boundaries of interactive entertainment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust and efficient gameplay systems and features using C++.
- Collaborate closely with game designers and other programmers to realize gameplay vision and mechanics.
- Optimize game performance, identify and resolve bugs, and ensure code quality and stability.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following industry best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior programming staff.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning for new game features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in game programming , with a strong focus on gameplay systems.
- Expertise in C++ programming and object-oriented design principles.
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Strong understanding of linear algebra, physics, and game design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team in a structured, in-studio development environment.
